Before its global release, players can try out the “Open Beta Test” for *Monster Hunter Wilds* from November 1 to 4, 2024, available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam! Additionally, PlayStation 5 players with a PlayStation Plus subscription will get early access from October 29 to 31, 2024.
That’s not all! During today’s Monster Hunter Wilds Showcase, Capcom revealed exciting new details, including monsters, regions, and local inhabitants, featured in a special video which you can watch below.
Oilwell Basin
One of the main highlights is the ‘Oilwell Basin,’ a hazardous terrain filled with oil pools that can ignite into fierce flames during a phenomenon known as ‘Firespring.’
This region is home to the village of Azuz, known for its oil refinement and ancient artifacts. Hunters will explore this area while learning about Azuz’s people, their culture, and the hidden secrets of the flames.
New Monsters
The treacherous landscape of Oilwell Basin brings challenging new monsters. Among the most enigmatic is The Black Flame, a legendary creature passed down through generations, said to bring massive destruction.
Hunters will also face dangers such as the Fanged Beast Ajarakan, known for its hard shell, and the Brute Wyvern Rompopolo, which uses its tongue and tail to release gas attacks. These creatures have evolved to survive the harsh environment, presenting unexpected challenges.
Open Beta Test Details
Players who don’t subscribe to PlayStation Plus or Game Pass Core/Ultimate can still join the *Monster Hunter Wilds* Open Beta. During the beta, players will experience three main features:
Character Creation: Customize your unique Hunter and Palico. While characters created during the beta will carry over to the full game, progress will not be saved.
Story Trial: The beta introduces players to the game’s opening chapter, including essential cutscenes and a tutorial leading up to the first hunt against the Chatacabra.
Doshaguma Hunt: In this special mission, players will hunt down Alpha Doshaguma, a ferocious beast that leads its pack. Players can use the SOS Flare to call for multiplayer help or rely on NPC hunters if playing solo.
Multiplayer action during the Open Beta allows cross-platform friend registration. While this data won’t transfer to the full game, players can team up across PlayStation, Xbox, and PC during the beta.
Capcom is offering exclusive rewards, such as the ‘Palico Teddy pendant’ and an ‘Item Pack,’ to players who participate in the Open Beta Test. These will be available as downloadable content in the full game.
